What is M.Sc. IT program?

M.Sc. IT is a 2-year post graduate degree program. During these 2 years, students are given theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills in the field of IT (Information Technology). The 2 years are divided into 4 semesters.

Why should you pursue M.Sc. IT?

Background in IT is not compulsory for this course. If you do not have a background in Computer Science and want to take the next decisive step in your career as IT professional then step right into this powerful Masters program! M.Sc. IT is specially made to fulfill your aspirations.

If you are a graduate in Information Technology and want to complete Masters Degree in IT then this course fulfills all your requirements with advanced subjects, detailed knowledge and specialization. It features core studies in IT Project Management and Software Engineering, and offers a wide range of elective choices.

Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam)

Candidate should be Graduate in any stream (Computer Science or Maths is not compulsory) with 55% aggregate or equivalent. All graduates such as BA, B.Com, BBA, B.Sc., BCA etc are eligible for M.Sc.IT.

Curriculum

You learn to design and develop websites and web-applications. Specialization and Elective subjects are Artificial Intelligence, Information Security and Cryptography, Advance Java and Wireless Technology.

Students also get the chance to work on a Live Major Project: Minimum four months in an organization approved by Director/HOD.

In Foundation and Core subjects such as programming, you will cover C, C++, Java, DotNet, and will get detailed knowledge about Operating Systems, Database Management with SQL, Software Engineering, Data structure and algorithm, E-commerce, Data Warehousing and Mining.

Career Prospects

This is the age of skill building. The more skills you have, employers will value you more!

According to current salary trends student are getting average salary between 5 – 8 lac per year. While the starting salary for freshers can be 3-4 LPA, candidates with experience of more than 10 years can earn from 10 LPA to more than 1 Crore per annum.

After the program, you will be able to find jobs in Private as well as Government sector. IT Industry, Telecom industry, Consultancy Services, E-Commerce companies etc are some of the domains where an M.Sc.IT student can apply. Top recruiters are IBM, TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Paytm and many other top MNC’s.

Many Government jobs are also available such as IA, Programmer, Specialist Officer, PGT etc.

Recruiters provide the same opportunities to M.Sc.IT students as MCA and B.Tech students. Students of M.Sc.IT will have an edge over their MCA and B.Tech counterparts when they get a call to the job interview!

There are many alternative carrier options for M.Sc. IT students. They can establish their own Teaching/Training Institute, Software Company, KPO, Software Sales and Distribution Dealership, Digital Marketing and Content Writing Service, Provider. Other than IT sector you can get opportunities in Hotels, Airports, Trading Companies, Marketing Companies, Hospitals, Research Institutes, Banking and Finance for technical support and handle their IT department.
