Master of Science (Botany)

About Course

Botany is about study of plants and their relationships with other plants and other sciences; Biodiversity, Medicinal Botany, Phytochemistry, Biostatistics, Ecology, Instrumentation, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics etc. With the challenges posed by environmental issues on existing flora, the significance and scope of Botany has widened. Growing world population continues to increase the need for better food supplies. Environmental concerns, such as air, water and soil pollution, will create openings for ecologists in government and industry. The search for new drugs and medicines and useful genes for improving crop plants will continue to create a need for botanical explorers. The Department was established in 2005 with three year degree courses, B.Sc. followed by M.Sc. Botany in 2014. The courses are affiliated by University of Rajasthan. The Department takes a conscious effort to expand its teaching program bringing together novel developments in the field with traditional areas of Botany through field excursions and projects.  The students are coached and encouraged through remedial teaching and academic guidance.

The faculty members are mostly engaged in research and publication to add immense value to the academic life. In addition to teaching through modern techniques, seminars, symposia, workshops, invited lectures and botanical excursions are an integral part of academic programs of the department. In recognition of research activities of the department, different funding Agencies like UGC and DST, provided financial assistance to the department and faculty members to pursue advanced research activities.
