Top video conferencing applications to keep yourself active during lock down period.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis, most of the people are working from home or are staying at home. Keeping yourself locked at home might be depressing for many people, therefore, it is advised for them to keep in touch with their near and dear ones through video calls. The businesses can also use these video applications to stay in touch with their clients or employees. Educational institutions can use these applications for conducting online classes.
The video calls can further be utilized either for idle chit-chat, learning new stuff, showing your talent, keeping each other motivated through yoga classes, conducting official meetings, or even for virtual parties.

Google Duo is one on one video calling app developed by Google. Whether it’s one-to-one calls, group calls or video messages, your conversation will always stay private with end-to-end encryption. Apart from one on one calling, it can also be used for group calling but the restriction is that up to 12 members can join at a time. So, it can be used for a small group of people.
As we all are aware that video calls can be made using WhatsApp and before lockdown four people at a time were able to have video calls. But now WhatsApp also has increased the number to 14 members recently. It means up to 14 members at a time can have a video call. WhatsApp video calls are secure by end-to-end encryption.
Facebook messenger is another application which is available as a mobile application as well as desktop application which can be used for video calls. In messenger one-to-one as well as group video calls are possible. As compared to other applications, there is no limit on number of users and time limit for video calls made through messenger. There is also no need to sign up as most of the users have Facebook account. However, if you don’t have a Facebook account then you will have to sign up for free account.
Google Hangout Meet
The meet application which is available for mobile devices as well as for desktops is used for video conferencing of up to 100 people at a time. The meet is used for online business presentations, conducting online classes etc. Meet also has a facility to share the desktop and a file transfer facility to its users. A meeting link can be shared with the participants and clicking on that link a user can join the meeting. It also allows users to call a phone number and join the meeting. The hangout meet has been made free till 30 June due to lock down else it is available for G-Suite users only. Up to 250 members can join a meeting.
Cisco Webex Meeting
The Cisco Webex is available as a mobile app as well as a desktop application. It allows you to collaborate with your team, students or clients through video calls. You can share desktop, files or applications using webex meeting center. The participants can join using the link provided by the host. The meetings can be scheduled and it can be stored in calendar. The conferencing is purely secured by CISCO.
Zoom is another video conferencing application which is available as both, a mobile app and as a desktop version. Up to 100 participants can take part at a time in conferencing. For free version one meeting can be hosted for up to 40 minutes. However, due to lockdown period, the application has removed the restrictions of time limit.
